Books authored by keynote speakers from past WGSS InQueery Symposia

The WSU Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Public Research Symposium is an annual event beginning in 2025 and includes a public keynote presentation and a seminar visit to WGSS 541, Feminist and Queer Approaches to Research, a course in the new Graduate Certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Featured speakers are interdisciplinary experts in the field of WGSS with recently published, innovative research. As a guest lecturer in the graduate seminar, they will discuss their work and field questions from students about their own projects in progress, particularly in terms of feminist and queer methods. The invited guest will also present a talk free to all students, faculty, alumni, staff, and community members.

WSU’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Public Research Symposium will build on the model of the successful WGSS InQueery Symposium, which is a longstanding (over a decade) annual event, held in the autumn when undergraduate and graduate students present their research and a national/internationally recognized scholar gives a keynote presentation. Read about excitement for the new WGSS Public Research Symposium from two WSU graduate students enrolled in the WGSS Graduate Certificate:

“This semester, I have begun a WGSS graduate certificate, which allows me to take queer and feminist coursework to complement my degree in prevention science. The program has been receptive and welcoming, and faculty have gone above and beyond to share resources, provide support, and expand my ways of thinking. In fall 2024 I also presented research on transgender and non-binary young adults at the InQueery symposium and am looking forward to the WGSS Public Research Symposium. WGSS perspectives are deeply enriching my work, adding nuanced perspectives from queer and feminist scholars, and helping me to synthesize and contextualize data into meaningful contributions to my field.”
