Minor options

Students explore study options represented in academic posters.

To receive a minor, students are expected to fulfill all of the University’s requirements for graduation, as well as the course work for the given minor. Courses for the minor may not be taken pass/fail.

Minors are offered in the following areas:

  • Queer Studies
  • Women’s Studies

Queer Studies Minor

A minor in queer studies requires a minimum of 16 credits with a 2.0 GPA. At least 9 credits must be in upper-division work and taken in residence at WSU or through WSU-approved education abroad or educational exchange courses.

  • W St 101: Introduction to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
    OR W St 120: Sex, Race, and Reproduction in Global Health Politics
  • W St 369: Queer Identities in Contemporary Cultures OR W St/SOC 385: Introduction to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies
  • W St 485: Theoretical Issues in Queer Studies [M]
Electives (7 credits)

A minimum of 7 credits from any WOMEN ST courses, except those used as required courses.

Women’s Studies Minor

A minor in women’s studies requires a minimum of 16 credits with a 2.0 GPA. At least 9 credit hours must be upper-division work and taken in residence at WSU or through WSU-approved education abroad or educational exchange courses.
